Catalys Course Overview

The Catalys curriculum is curated from the same textbooks used in business schools throughout the United States. Every course is designed with a 10 hours per week time commitment in mind but can be completed at your own pace. Dedicated 1:1 career consultations are embedded within the curriculum.

Business and Economics
  • Introduction to Business: Essential concepts of business and markets, an introductory view of subjects covered throughout the program.

  • Economics 101: Core concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics including supply and demand, markets, competition, utility, economic growth and public policy.  

Total Time: ~60 hours

Accounting and Finance
  • Financial Accounting: Understanding financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow), bookkeeping, accounting principles.

  • Managerial Accounting:  Understanding how accounting is a tool for management and decision making inside of a firm.

  • Corporate Finance: Basics of finance, budgeting, forecasting, investment decisions, and analyzing financial statements.

Marketing Fundamentals
  • Marketing 101: Understanding customer needs, market segmentation, marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion), B2C vs. B2B marketing, and branding.

  • Digital Marketing: Lead generation in digital world, paid search and social advertising, content marketing, analyzing and optimizing digital marketing spend

Operations and HR
  • Operations Management: Productivity, inventory management, supply chain management, quality management, and logistics.

  • Human Resources and Organizational Leadership: Organizational structures, human resource management, leadership styles, communication, team building, and group dynamics.

Technology and Information Systems
  • Information Systems in Business: Understanding the role of IT in business, popular business software applications, basics of data analysis, cybersecurity, and system analysis.

Total Time: ~40 hours

Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship
  • Management and Strategy Fundamentals: Competitive analysis, strategic planning, business growth and development.

  • Entrepreneurship: Identifying business opportunities, business planning, funding, and startup management.

Total Time: ~80 hours

Integrated Studies
  • Integrated Studies: Multi-disciplinary business case studies that weave together concepts across all individual domains covered in program.

Career Preparation
  • Dedicated time for 1:1 career consultations embedded within curriculum.

  • Hands on support with resume writing, job search and application, and interviewing process.
